16.PARALAMAS

I grew up listening to Paralamas.
These guys must be about 15 years older than me.
It was what played on the radio. Forced. I didn’t like them.
With the critical sense I had between the ages of 8 and 13, I considered their music unresolved.
Until they went to England and came back as a different Paralamas. They returned as a cohesive group.
And engaged. It was during this time that Viana sang: "Luís Inácio said, Luís warned," referring to the future president Lula.
And it was during this time that he suffered a plane crash, in which he lost his wife and became paralyzed. Crime?!?!?@
However, the art was already settled in the minds of the members. What they played was rock.
Everything they did in terms of musical fusion had to bow to rock.
The second style, reggae, was a well-executed whim.
No more ska. Rock is rock, reggae is reggae.
The older I get, the bigger fan I become of these guys.
Things started falling into place.
It was polished.
It’s rock, it’s Brazilian, and it’s very good.
