14.JOSÉ SARAMAGO: THE STONE RAFT
This was the key book for me.
I started reading the classics; all the major classics.
And from this book, I also began to enjoy reading, especially the more visionary ones.
The Stone Raft is a book that Saramago saw as a strange medium. The strangeness was never explained while he was alive.
The Stone Raft is the story of Portugal and Spain, after being disconnected from Europe, beginning to sail like a raft across the Atlantic Ocean.
In 2024, many countries are seen like this, as ships. Even more: like ships without a rudder. And many are sinking.
Saramago, always a genius, even unconsciously. Such are geniuses. It is impossible to replicate them.
