Aman was a Sikh.
Aman was cool.
Aman was my friend.
Aman thought Western calligraphy was the coolest thing.
And of all his characteristics, the most relevant was that he was my friend.
It’s interesting how, after a long time in a religion, the religion itself takes a back seat.
It’s the newly converted who are the fanatics. The ones who won’t sit at the table with people who have differing opinions.
I had two Sikh friends. One was Yasmin, who started as my father’s friend and ended up being more my friend than his.
The second was Aman. He’s in Canada. I’m not going to Canada; it’s too cold there.
