This girl I couldn’t direct. It was one of my last attempts before what would later be known by many names, but in short, it was the West’s attempt to compete with the East in the textile industry.

This girl was a find and a conceptual puzzle. I met her on a paradise beach, and she had the vibe of such a place. In other words, a light, a strong light. She was native to the place. Reggae singer, surfer, environmental activist.

However, she was small, with a body shaped by surfing, meaning swimmer-like arms, which doesn’t automatically make any woman a model. That alone was a challenge to overcome.

The situation became more difficult because it was around 2013, and the local oligarchy’s youth positioned themselves, well, like in all of the West, as the intellectual matrix of society, and everything should come from them.

And this resulted in a mass exit of fashion professionals until the textile industry collapsed. And without the textile industry, the fashion industry collapses as well. Suddenly there were no more work teams or clients.

Is there still a chance? There’s always an opportunity. Not as a model. However, art transcends the mediums of art. As the most fashionable person who ever existed and never worked with clothes, Steve Jobs, said:

The master said that the geniuses who worked with him on computers, if they didn’t work with computers, would simply have been geniuses in other fields and would have made their revolutions in other areas.

And so it is, she may not be a model, but she can be something else brilliant.
